Fixing your website’s mobile view
If your website’s mobile view doesn’t look good, then listen up.
This is the fifth of a mini video series where Vee shares website mistakes that turn off visitors and prospects from becoming clients and what to instead. MISTAKE #5 is not checking what your website looks like on mobile because it might looks pants!
When was the last time you actually checked your website on a mobile device? Even though it may be classed as mobile friendly on Google’s mobile friendliness tester, it it might still actually not be a very good experience for your site visitor because your website’s mobile view doesn’t look good. This bad experience puts off potential customers from exploring further. Which means they won’t discover how you can help them. That means they won’t reach out or try to make contact to explore working with you.
It’s now reported that more than half website visitors, are visiting websites on their mobile devices. So you’ve got to make sure that your website looks good on mobile – yes, that tiny little screen.
So, the first step is to have a look at your website on a mobile device. Highlight or take screenshots, and create a list of where actually it doesn’t look good or function well.
Mobile View Mistakes To Look Out For
Things to check that could be making it difficult for your visitor:
- Some text might be too small or is not very readable.
- They can’t access the pages that they need to
- Elements have become out of alignment or in the wrong sequence so it makes no sense.
- Forms that fill beyond the boundary of the screen and/or don’t scroll
- Testimonial block has shrunk so narrow that it only shows a couple of letters per line
Many of these types of issues can very easy thing to fix by rethinking the layout and stacking elements differently.
The aim is to make the mobile view look good, readable and clear.
So, your task today: Have a look what your website looks like on mobile and check that it can be read and that it functions properly.
